Introduction:

Rosewill is not the first name you might think of when choosing your next PC case, but they've been making cases for quite a while and they know how to do it and get the job done. Getting the job done right, can be a lot different than simply getting the job done. Rosewill has a wide range of cases that extend from full-tower cases that are heavily laden with plastic to mid-range cases that are more for the budget-minded audience. They also have a few smaller cases built for the mATX and ITX market. I've noticed that Rosewill has an eye for style and while you may not always like their style, it's pretty hard not to like the style of the Legacy V3 Plus-B.

First Impressions:

The Rosewill Legacy V3 Plus-B Black Aluminum Mini-ITX case is a full-on aluminum case without much plastic in the built at all. It is completely fan-less and while they claim it supports up to four 40mm fans, not many people will be installing a bunch of fans inside this little aluminum cube. This case relies more on passive cooling through the side and rear ventilation as well as the aluminum design.

As you can see below, the holes in the left side panel allow for a fair bit of airflow in this case and the warm air that accumulates will be passed out through the rear ventilation, the aluminum case itself as well as the exhaust fan on the power supply. While you may be tempted to build a fanless computer inside this case, it would be wise to make sure that the PSU at least has a fan to help get rid of the air that will become very hot.

As you can see on the right side panel, the Legacy V3 Plus-B supports two USB ports as well as the standard audio microphone and headphone jacks. There is one USB 2.0 port as well as one USB 3.0 port on this case. This requires a pair of connectors inside the chassis to hook to the motherboard. In many ways it would make more sense to have two USB 3.0 ports and a single cable inside, but if your motherboard doesn't support it, you'd have no front USB ports. This way, they give you the option of having one working USB port at the very least.

The bundle included with the Legacy V3 Plus-B is very basic. There are a total of three cable ties, four case feet and enough screws to mount an ITX motherboard as well as both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives. There is nothing else, and this is not a bad thing. For the price of this case, I don't expect much else as the build quality of the aluminum enclosure is excellent. I guess if I paid $100 for this case, I'd hope for a little more, but for the price, it's got everything you need.
