Introduction:
I have a great keyboard from Rosewill on my test bench today, and I'm pretty excited to give you all the skinny on this awesome addition to their line-up.
Rosewill seems to have their hands into everything computer related. Their name is associated with many items that cover a wide range of computer and home entertainment products. They have found a way to not only compete in a wide range of products, but to be successful and carry a good reputation along the way. I'm pretty stoked to get a closer look at Rosewill's Apollo Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. In the following section I'll give you a closer look at this beauty.
First Look:
The Apollo came packaged in a stylish photo printed cardboard box. As a consumer, I like the fact that all the important information is printed right on the box and it isn't all about blinding you with an awesome image. I've found some of the best products were packaged with little flair.
The inside packaging was very adequate in keeping the Apollo from harm while being shipped or stocked on a shelf. The inside packaging consisted in cardboard and dense foam. There was also a plastic vapor barrier to keep any unwanted dust or moisture out.
The most important feature of this keyboard is definitely the Cherry MX Blue Mechanical key Switches. With this being my first mechanical keyboard, these took some getting used to. I really don’t think I could go back to anything else.
Each key is individually backlit with blue LEDs. This makes the color really consistent across the whole range of keys. No dim spots for the Apollo. There are also three levels of brightness to choose from.
The Apollo sports two USB 2.0 ports, as well as headphone and mic jacks along the leading edge. The function key allows many keys to perform double duty. The Apollo can control your multimedia as well as all the different profiles that may be set up. This definitely makes life easier when you just want to jam or game.
There are five profiles and up to 50 programmable macro keys, 10 for each profile. There are also 8 orange key caps for easy positioning when gaming. These can also be used to mark any key even though they are printed with the arrows and awsd keys.
The Apollo has a lot of features that makes it a powerful contender in the gaming keyboard arena. The next section will give you a closer look at the technical specs.
