Android App Pick - Angry Birds Epic

Application: Angry Birds Epic

I know that the word "Epic" is often overused and refers to things that are "better than average" but are not really "epic". Today we are taking a look at yet another game in the Angry Birds franchise, but instead of a rehash of the same bird-flinging-at-happy-pigs game, this one takes on a much different turn. Epic, is much more like Final Fantasy than Angry Birds - only the characters are reminiscent of the Rovio brand. This game has got me hooked and with over 5 Million installs, it appears that I'm not alone.

There are many levels and a lot of different ways you can customize your character and play. You can play more defensive and keep healing your characters with special powers and potions, or you can go all out, maximize your damage and blast away. There is a Rage Chilli that fills up as the battle progresses and once that is full, you can drag it to a character to unleash their rage.

Click and hold on a character to find out details about their attack, health and special abilities as you battle your way through an epic world that takes you over land and sea. At the end of each battle, you get to spin for your chance to win some extra loot that will help you throughout the game. The more stars you get in the battle, the better the chance you have to win more stuff. In the store area, you can use the things you've collected to buy power-ups, create potions, and of course you can break out your wallet if you're impatient and make the game easier on you.

There is the occasional advertisement and unfortunately, there is no way to remove ads completely. In the end, they aren't too distracting and the game plays very well on every device I've tried.

Take a look and have some EPIC fun playing this weeks Android App Pick!
