Android App Pick - Word Lens

Application: Word Lens

Holy snap! We are at app 160! That is crazy sauce! I know it’s not 200 yet, but give us another 40 weeks we should be there! If you're planning to travel or wondering if you should eat that interesting item on the menu at a fancy restaurant, you might want to translate before you order. When using Word Lens you can see the text through the eyes of the French or Spaniard. It is extremely handy to check out what other words mean - before you regret it. You wouldn’t want to be like Mr. Bean and order something crazy that you simply don’t want to eat.

It’s pretty easy to use; simply pick the language you want to translate to. Hold it over the words and you will see the letters change into your language. It uses the camera on your tablet or phone to do a real-time translation. While it won’t pick up hand writing or printing, it does have a flashlight on it to read in dim lighting.

Word Lens doesn’t translate every language, but it has most of the common languages you’ll run into on a daily basis. I’m hoping that with coming updates, more language will be added as it would be nice to have some Asian language support as well as Hindi and other East-Indian languages added. Have fun translating, learning and knowing your way around a new country!
