Introduction:

Today we are taking a look at one of Sennheiser's latest products. While the Momentum series of headphones has been around for a while now, this series has only been available as over-the-ear or on-head products. Today, however, we are taking a look at their in-ear Momentum earphones. These promise the same high-quality experience, but with a distinct difference. They are very small when compared to bulky headphones. I know there are a lot of people that enjoy large headphones, but they won't take them on the road. These are aimed for those consumers. 

I've tested out a large number of earphones over the years from Creative, Razer, SteelSeries, Optoma and more. I enjoy good, accurate, clean audio and have been impressed with some of Sennheiser's products in the past, but they've always been pretty large. Hopefully they have figured out how to get the same high-quality audio inside a small package.

Closer Look:

These earphones come packaged in a classy box that it's overly flashy and shows off the product through great graphics. It will catch your eye at the big-box store. Inside the box, is a nice carrying case that includes a bunch of extra ear-tips that range from extra small to large. The 1.3m cable includes an in-line remote as well as an omni-directional microphone. The cable is not entirely flat, but it isn't exactly round either. Flat cables have an advantage of being really easy to untangle, but they don't always lay right. Sennheiser tries to blend the best of both cables into this elliptical cable and it appears to work pretty well. They are much easier to untangle that the Optoma earphones, and they are more comfortable than the SteelSeries units we looked at a while back.

In The Package:

The Sennheiser Momentum Earphones have some unique design styling that gives them immediate curb appeal. The cable exists the driver housing on the side of the main body and is help securely in place with a hard loop that should keep the wire secure and prevent it from getting damaged as easy. The sound chamber sits on a slight cant and this makes them very comfortable and stay securely in my ears.

The Sennheiser Momentum is a headset - not just a pair of headphones. The built in remote houses the microphone as well as controls to play, pause, skip forward and skip backward. All this is done on a very slim unit that doesn't add a lot of bulk to the package.

The overall look, feel, fit and finish is very well done and on the next couple of pages we'll find out more about the Sennheiser Momentum in-ears and find out what makes them tick, how good they claim to be and finally, how good they actually are.
