Twitter looking at paid memberships

In an attempt to bring in some extra revenue, Twitter has been exploring a paid subscription model to offer more features to users for a monthly fee. Right now the details on what you'd get for a monthly fee are pretty vague as Twitter is polling users but it sounds like at this point free users won't be losing any features. As more and more users make the move from Twitter to other social media platforms rolling out a paid service is going to be a tricky task for Twitter. BBC has the full story.

The micro-blogging service, which has struggled to grow its user base in recent years, is carrying out surveys to “assess interest” in the idea.

Paying members would get access to an enhanced version of Tweetdeck, Twitter’s souped-up interface that offers more functionality than Twitter.com.

The company has not made any indication it is considering charging regular users of the service.
