Social Media As a News Source

If you are one of the humans that get their news from social media, you're not alone - although you probably should be. Social media is perhaps the most unreliable, slanted, agenda-oriented source out there, and yet more than half of Americans over the age of 50 get at least some of their news from social networks. The number is climbing and shows that more people are thinking less. That's not good at all, but it is the way of the future. While LG says the future is friendly, I say that the future is slanted and scary that people are trusting Mark to deliver unbiased news.

Because of the vastly different audience sizes across major social media sites, there are two different ways to think about measuring change in news use on these platforms. One is to compare the share of each site’s users that get news on the site, while the second is to measure the total percentage of Americans that report seeing news on the site.
