Final Thoughts and Conclusion |
AMD Phenom 9500 and 9600 Overclocking:
For our overclocking tests we ran both chips at a 10% overclock (220 FSB from 200 FSB). Due to time limitations we were not able to tinker with settings to squeeze a few more MHz out, but we found that in most of our testing anything over 10% started to make the system unstable, so for our testing we went with a nice solid 10% overclock on both. All overclocks were done using stock cooling.
The Phenom 9500 has a stock speed of 2.2GHz, and with our overclock we've taken it up to 2.42GHz, which makes it faster than the Phenom 9600 at stock speeds (2.3GHz).
The Phenom 9600 has a stock speed of 2.3GHz, and with our 10% overclock we've taken it up to 2.536GHz.
AMD Phenom X4 9500 and 9600 Power Usage:
The power usage for this system was also interesting, and I've included a chart of the Watts used during the Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark. I've also included the specs of our test system, which is pretty basic, and for our testing we didn't have any extra hard drives or optical drives installed, yet we were still able to get the usage up to just over 230 Watts.
