Introduction:
It's been a month and a half since CES 2008 where we first saw the BlacX HDD Docking Station and we've been playing with this handy little unit now for a few weeks. This is an innovative product from Thermaltake that allows you to quickly and easily connect SATA hard drives to your PC. It connects both 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs simply and securely and is a handy addition to any computer workbench where you've got data on spare hard drives. Before I spoil the ending, let's take a better look at this unit.
Package & Contents:
The BlacX comes in a very attractive box and will get the attention of most consumers that like nice products on their desk. The front of the box features a Western Digital Raptor X HDD, which is insanely over-kill for a USB connected dock, but it looks nice in the cradle. The back of the box displays for of the features and specifications of this dock. It's interesting that this dock supports both 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives. Most enclosures support one or the other, but not both.
The BlacX is connected by USB2.0 and requires additional power via an included 12v/2A power adapter. Also included in the box are a 3' USB cable and a small quick install guide.
