Memory Testing:

For memory testing I've used Everest Ultimate and SiSoft Sandra XII. Both of these benchmarks are pretty standard, and we've used them in all of our recent memory reviews, and these tests should really show the performance differences between our tests of DDR2 and DDR3. As we've seen in our testing so far, the differences between the two board (and chipsets) is pretty small. In certain tests we've seen the X48 chipset perform better, and in others the P45 chipset perform better, and in most cases the difference is so small chances are good you'd never notice in real-world applications.

Well that concludes our testing, and just like in most of the other tests, the difference between the two boards is very close.

Much like the ASRock X48TurboTwins board that I reviewed, I found the limits of the P45R2000 to be very similar. Due to time constraints I wasn't able to push the board and tweak the settings as much as I would have liked, but hitting 3.6 Ghz (up from 3.0 Ghz) was pretty painless and accomplished with air cooling and no problems.

This board also features the OC Tuner, I won't go into much detail about OC Tuner, but if you want to find out more about it you can check out our review of the ASRock K10N78hSLI-WiFi motherboard where we have gone over what OC Tuner is all about.

Other features like the Boot Failure Guard is a nice touch, and chances are good if you're trying to push your system you'll be thankful that the Boot Failure Guard comes to the rescue and resets your settings and allows you to try again without having to reset anything.

I wouldn't classify the overclocking features of the P45R2000 as extreme, but for 90% of hardware enthusiasts, there will be enough tools to help you get a decent overclock easily.
