Sony Hates Hackers (http://kotaku.com/#!5769020/ps3-hackers-home-raided-by-police)
It’s no secret that Sony hates hackers... They hate them a lot though. They recently raided a hackers house in Germany and took all of his computers, PS3 and other gear related to hacking. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t take his mind and he managed to get the code up on the web before they got to it. Now the only way they are going to stop him is by killing him (http://www.crunchgear.com/2011/02/25/ps3-hacker-the-only-way-ill-stop-is-if-sony-kills-me/). I’m sure this has crossed someone’s mind that works at Sony.
Hack-Proof PS3 (http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/710610/Rumor-Hack-Proof-PS3-In-Development-.html)
The best way to stop hackers from accessing your platform is not to allow them to, but to make it hack-proof right? Sony is working on the next version of the PS3 that aims to be just that. I give it less than 7 days until it is rooted/exploited/jailbroke. Jason things under 3 days. Time will tell, but I can guarantee you that it is in fact hackable.
New Macbook Pro released (http://gizmodo.com/#!5769132/the-new-macbook-pros-are-speed-freaks)
The new MacBook Pro’s are out and they are fast reports Gizmodo. They run like bottled lightning as they currently run the Sandy Bridge CPUs from Intel and have a new “Thunderbolt” IO interface that will replace Firewire eventually. All-in-all the new MacBook pro is almost as fast a Lenovo Thinkpad, so they are getting there.
Intel’s “Thunderbolt” I/O devices are not just for Macs (http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/24/intel-refutes-apple-exclusivity-for-thunderbolt-i-o-lacie-and-p/)
Apple wanted the “Lightpeak” aka “Thunderbolt” interface to be Apple only, but as this was developed by Intel, they insist that it won’t be Apple exclusive. It appears that it may remain that way for a time, but this 10Gbps interface will be coming to mainstream PCs as early as 2012. I still believe we’ll see it sooner than that on enthusiast PCs however.
Verizon iPhone 4 has Antenna Issue (http://online.wsj.com/article/AP474b5bebfd7946658a1bada4d4de046f.html)
Well, well. So it isn’t just AT&T?! Apparently the Verizon iPhone has antennae issues as well – according to Consumer Reports and this may just show that Apple is more to blame for dropped calls and a crappy experience that just AT&T. It is interesting to know but sadly, Apple stock keeps climbing. This is sad as it isn’t fair to the world of technology. Consumer Reports doesn’t recommend any iPhone products at this point.
New Trojan Virus Just for Macs (http://www.tgdaily.com/security-features/54351-blackhole-rat-trojan-targets-mac-os-x)
Some thought this day would never come. It’s true. There are a number of virus’ on Apple products and the latest and “greatest” is Mac only and it is a whopper. It gains root access and can do whatever the designer intends. This is not good for Apple users as most don’t have anti-virus at all as they have been told you don’t need one “’cause Macs don’t get viruses!” Wrong.
Google Updates Search Algorithms, to Kill Spam (http://edition.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/02/25/google.content.farms.mashable/)
If you use Google search, you’ll likely have noticed that your search results have been less than satisfactory for a while now. The problem is that people have figured out how to game the search results and get their spam sites ranked pretty high. This has been addressed and now 11.8% of searches are better and the results are as they should be. Good job, but I’m still happily using Bing (http://www.bing.com).
Zynga now worth $10 Billion dollars (http://kara.allthingsd.com/20110217/zynga-raises-500-million-at-10-billion-valuation/)
Zynga appears to be doing pretty good with their most recent valuation reaching $10 Billion. They just raised over $500,000,000 and have no signs of slowing down. Please keep in mind that their products and services can all be had for free. Wow. Nice business model. Twitter, are you listening?
