That is really cool! Maybe all motherboard manufacturers should take a page from this book and change their beep error codes.

Imagine call into tech support.

SUPPORT: "Thank you for calling Asus, can I help you?"
USER: "Hi, my computer is playing Serenade no 13 in G major."
SUPPORT: "Are you sure it's G major sir?"
USER: "Um, I dunno, I'll have to call you back."

General Hardware / Strange Linksys Problem.
« on: November 22, 2007, 11:17:39 AM »
Ok, so I was gonna discuss this with Fujitsu personally when we get together so I can show him how to play AOM, but I am bored at work and thought I would throw this into the shark tank.

I was at a client about a month ago where their only problem was that they were unable to reach WWW.MSN.COM, the site was unreachable/unpingable/etc. I found that all the PCs on their network were unable to reach the site, and they were using a standard blue/black Linksys RT31P2 router. I updated the firmware on the router, no change. I replaced the unit with a new black business series router, and the problem instantly went away. I reconfigured the router and got the heck out of there.

Why was the router not allowing access to the site? What exactly was happening? Router had a problem with the website code? Bad hardware? ETC.

First one to answer correctly rules.

News / Re: [Frontpage News]Mio Digiwalker H610 and C220 GPS Units
« on: November 15, 2007, 09:05:13 AM »
I have had some experience with these units and they are pretty cool. Most people I know who have them just use them as MP3 players though.

I think the reasoning behind the quote about people not purchasing them is clear. They don't seem to be
very useful for the average city dweeler who goes from point A to point B, occasionally to point C on the
weekend. They already know how to get to work, they know how to get to home, that's basically all they
need to know.

For mobile technicians (like myself), couriers, etc, they are an invaluable tool. For everyone, it's just a toy. (but a cool toy)

I would predict that they may experience some time in the sun as an 'it' item, but they won't experience any staying power in the market. Cell phones will likely start to intergrate GoogleMap and people won't want a seperate GPS type unit.

You joined Facebook Fujitsu!?

Remind me to give you a hard time about it when we rock the AOM. :D

General Mayhem / Re: genetically engineered mouse!

It is freaky. It begs the question.

Why did they bother to do it?

Just because they can? (ok, two questions)

"the mechanism by which mammals determine whether or not to fear another animal" is in place for a reason.

Basically they just genetically engineered mouse the stupidist mouse in the world. :uglystupid2:

Quick Q&A / Re: Need help with Vista!
« on: November 15, 2007, 07:26:52 AM »
I have been setting up new Vista PCs for client lately and the driver support is really dissapointing.

Who wants to go buy a new printer just because there are no Vista drivers?

Operating Systems & Software / Re: Which OS(s) are you running?

XP Pro SP2. It may not be perfect, but it's the best OS I've known.

General Hardware / [Frontpage News]Simple Portable HDD
« on: November 12, 2007, 08:09:01 AM »
My company services quite a few clients who have moved to portable hard drive solution.
Most of them purchase 2 seperate units so they can keep a copy of their data backed up on the server, on the external HDD and then they have the other HDD at home.

For small business' it provides a good amount of redundancy incase of theft or fire.

I was also playing Age of Mythology quite regularly all summer.

My elephants were unstoppable! Lance was all 'help help' and I'm all 'here I come to save you'
and he was all 'great, here, take my relics, you deserve them'

Be expecting to play first week of December

Signing out from Toronto, sitting in my office doing nothing, my job is boring.

That was awesome! How does such a terrible game even get made?

Thanks for that.
