iPhone Back More Expensive that the Screen
« on: September 25, 2017, 08:52:40 PM »
The Nexus 4 was one of the first phones that I recall had a glass back. It wasn't that expensive to repair, but it was a pain as glass shards could keep splintering off until you just finally replaced it. While phone designs are more beautiful than ever before, this beauty comes at a cost of durability. Breakage happens and with the new iPhone 8, the back costs more to replace than the front. If you have Applecare+ warranty, a screen replacement for your iPhone 8 will cost you $29. If you have to replace the back under warranty, it will set you back $99. Keep that in mind - and perhaps keep a case on your fragile phone.

This is likely because removing the glass back is markedly more difficult than swapping out a screen. Unlike the front glass, the back glass is glued in really well, requiring much more effort to remove. AppleCare+ allows for two incidents of accidental damage, after which your repair price jumps up to $349 for the iPhone 8 and $399 for the Plus for anything other than a screen repair.Source: Engadget
