Today I have a great set of Audio-Technica headphones on my test bench. Audio-Technica is a well renowned company, known for a variety of audio products. Their products can be found in recording studios, backpacks, homes and anywhere people demand high-quality audio products. They cater to all levels of use and I think that plays to their advantage.

I recently had the opportunity to meet up with Audio-Technica at CES 2014 and they had a lot of enthusiasm for their current products as well as future endeavors that are in the works.

Specifically speaking, I will be reviewing the ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint Headphones. Knowing Audio-Technica's reputation for superior equipment, I'm really excited to dive into this review.

First Look:

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC70 Quietpoint Headphones came packaged in a stylishly-printed outer box. A sturdy carry case was inside, designed to protect these beauties anywhere they go.  I personally feel that a company's packaging says a lot about their products and the company as a whole.

Inside the carry case was everything I needed to start rocking to my favorite music. Along with the headphones, there is a detachable 1.2m cable with standard 3.5mm jacks. There are also adapters for airline jacks, as well as, a 6.3mm jack. Finally they did supply a battery to operate the active noise cancelling feature of these headphones.

The ATH-ANC70 Headphones are over the ear style.  I found that these were really comfortable to wear and offered a great sealed environment for my ears. The biggest feature of these Headphones has to be the active noise cancelling technology.

I've tried different headphones that dampen the surrounding noise but they were nothing like what Audio-Technica brought to the table today. I was really amazed by the amount of noise that was removed from my environment when I was using these.  I have a pretty active house and these made it all melt away and let my music take center stage - where it is supposed to be.

On the next page we'll cover the features and specifications for these headphones before we talk about how they perform and wrap up with our final thoughts.

Features and Specifications:

The following list of features and specifications have been pulled from the product page over at Audio-Technica. If you want to get all the details and keep up to date on these headphones, make sure to check the original product page.

Whether you fly a lot, work in a noisy office, or simply love the stillness of a silent reprieve, QuietPoint® headphones give you a listening experience free from distractions.

The ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint® active noise-cancelling headphones are lightweight and compact to effectively reduce distracting background noise by up to 90%, while offering the superior audio quality that has made Audio-Technica a worldwide leader in electro-acoustic technology.

Ideal for use with smartphones, tablets, laptops, music or DVD players & in-flight entertainment systems, ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint® closed-back headphones deliver clear, high-resolution sound, with intense bass, a detailed midrange, extended treble and accurate imaging in an immersive soundfield. When used with a smartphone, you can simply press the illuminated logo-button on the earcup to take a phone call or to return to your music or silence. A high-sensitivity mic has been built into the earcup, rather than the cable, for improved speech clarity and volume. Fixed-position mic maintains consistent distance from mouth for uniform volume level and eliminates noise from cable motion or rubbing on a collar. The earcups have been designed for greater comfort, with memory-foam padding and a shape that fits easily over any ear. The headband has been engineered to distribute mass evenly across the head, making it feel lightweight for longer wearing comfort.

The ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint® headphones feature large-aperture 40 mm drivers with a rare earth magnet system and high sensitivity to provide generous volume levels from any music source. The headphones also work when the noise-cancelling function is turned off, and operate in passive mode without batteries. Noise-cancelling electronics are fully integrated in each earpiece, with no need for external modules.

So now you can hear everything as it was intended. And absolutely nothing else. Find your QuietPoint®

On the last page we'll cover usage and our final thoughts.

General Usage:

Installation is simple; you just plug in and enjoy. Testing was also pretty easy for these headphones. I like to stream a lot of music on my phone so they fit right into my daily routine.

I used these all over the place. No matter what was happening around me, my music didn’t take a backseat. The active noise cancelling did just that, cancelling most outside noise. Some sound would make it through, but it was nowhere near anything that would disrupt my experience.

The feel of these headphones is really comfortable too. They are adjustable, and the ear phones swivel to fit right where I wanted them.  The head band is amply padded and the earphones are quite plush.

In conclusion, I found that the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC70 Quietpoint headphones were a great fit and brought a lot of quality to the table. The construction is quite durable, and the feel is very comfortable.

They have a great sound! When coupled with active noise cancelling technology, these headphones really brought out the sound of my music while removing most of the noise that can hamper anyone's experience.

With an MSRP of $199.99, these are definitely a little pricey. They offer a great sound but I would be more comfortable paying ~$150 for this set. All in all, I have had a great experience with these headphones.  I'm looking forward to see what Audio-Technica will come up with next.
